Pineapple Sage
This sage is a must in any tea or bee garden. The leaves are incredibly aromatic and release their fragrance as you brush past the bush. The flowers are inundated with bees when in bloom. Our kids like to suck out the nectar at the bottom of the flowers, which is a fantastic way to get kids interactive with the garden.
Grows to 1.2 - 1.5m in height in well drained soil. Requires water on hot days. We find it does best with a prune after flowering (which it will do all winter long, so is a much valued bee fodder in times where there isn’t much else available). It will tolerate some frosts but keeping it protected will ensure it stays a perennial in your garden.
